Key Programmes and Initiatives
Nka’Thuto EduPropeller programmes foster youth-led entrepreneurial solutions in STEMi, Agri-tech, and sustainability, through practical workshops focusing on design thinking, prototyping, and business development.
Ideas 2 Concept Incubation
Nka’Thuto’s unique approach integrates various skills development tools in a project-based model. This program facilitates the practical application of STEAMi and business principles, emphasising learning by doing. The organisation offers continuous interventions targeting youth at foundation levels, instilling critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Innovation Clubs
Nka’Thuto Innovation Clubs are extra-curricular STEAMi-focused clubs aimed at stimulating interest and practical engagement in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAMi) among learners from Grade 8 to Grade 10. The clubs are structured around three core modules that expose learners to practical, hands-on innovation and problem-solving skills relevant to modern societal challenges.
Innovation Club Modules
The Urban Crop Management Module exposes learners to hydroponic and traditional farming, combining sustainability with innovation. Through hands-on activities, learners apply coding, sensors, and data analysis to optimise crop growth, compare farming methods, and explore scalable urban agriculture solutions. This module builds skills to address food security, climate resilience, and sustainable farming challenges.
Coding, robotics, and animation develop critical skills in logic, creativity, and problem-solving. Through this module, learners apply technology to automate hydroponic systems and explore digital storytelling, blending technical and creative disciplines. The programme exposes learners to careers in IT, engineering, agriculture, and digital arts, while nurturing entrepreneurial skills for future innovation and business opportunities.
Nka’Thuto Alumni Program
Led by a Junior Advisory Board, the Alumni Programme supports learners beyond grade 12, building a strong network of university students, entrepreneurs, and young professionals. It equips alumni with the tools and coping strategies they need to thrive in their studies, careers, and ventures, while also connecting them back to high school programmes to ensure continued relevance and impact.

What people are saying
NkaʼThuto gave me the tools to turn my ideas into real solutions and the confidence to make a difference. With their mentorship, I grew from a curious student into the founder of a health-tech startup and now serve on the Junior Advisory Board. NkaʼThuto didnʼt just teach me innovation — it taught me to be the change.
NkaʼThuto laid the foundation for that vision. It gave me the confidence, exposure, and mentorship I needed to believe in myself and to push forward. Today, Iʼm focused on using engineering to solve real-world challenges and give back by tutoring high school students in Maths and Science
NkaʼThuto played and still is playing a pivotal role, providing support and resources that transform my access to the tech world. This support has been instrumental in cultivating a passion for creation and invention.”
